Megatron must need medical assistance because Dr. McDreamy has joined the cast of Transformers 3. According to Variety, Patrick Dempsey is the latest addition to the growing roster of actors for Michael Bay’s second sequel in the Hasbro franchise. He’s set to join returning stars Shia Lebeouf, Megan Fox, Kevin Dunn, and Julie White in the third film.

While in Brazil, Dempsey revealed to reporters that he’ll begin work on Transformers 3 later this month. He didn’t give any specifics on the role (no name or occupation) but he did say that he’ll be playing a “darker character.” The gates of speculation have now been opened. Who do you think Dempsey will play? We doubt his character will be the main bad guy because John Malkovich is also in this movie and who in their right mind would waste his evil talents?

The story for Transformers 3 hasn’t been unveiled so we’re not sure who’s playing what or why. All we know is that the cast is getting too bloated and with the addition of McDreamy we’re even more worried about the plot. Along with Labeouf, Fox, Dempsey, Malkovich, Dunn, and White, Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel, Ken Jeong, and Frances McDormand are all part of the cast. This film is already giving us a headache!

Do you think Transformers 3 will be better or worse than Revenge of the Fallen? What do you think of Dempsey joining the cast?
