The Redgrave family has had a pretty rough year starting with the unexpected death of actress Natasha Richardson last March. Today we’ve learned that her aunt Lynn Redgrave has also passed away at the age of 67 at her home in Connecticut. The veteran performer was the younger sister of Vanessa Redgrave and was best known for her Oscar nominated performance in the 1966 film, Georgy Girl.
According to a report from Yahoo, Redgrave’s children released an official statement via their mother’s publicist Rick Miramontez regarding her death.
“Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven year journey with breast cancer,” they said in a statement Monday. “She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time.”
Besides Georgy Girl, Redgrave also received an Oscar nod for Gods and Monsters as well as Tony nominations for “Mrs. Warren’s Profession,” “Shakespeare for My Father” and “The Constant Wife.” During this difficult time we encourage everyone to send their well wishes and prayers to the Redgrave family.
