Watch out Twi-hards! The rumors have just been confirmed that Breaking Dawn has just scored itself an Oscar winning director! Summit Entertainment has confirmed that Bill Condon will be bringing us all the teenage angst we can handle for the fourth book/film, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Condon said about his upcoming project….

“I’m very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen. As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book – and we’re hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience.”

At least his grateful for his payday which will make his name more well known than when he won his Academy Award. Any of you Twi-hards know what film he won for? Does it matter as long as Jacob is topless and Edward is smoldering? It was Gods and Monsters which he wrote and directed. He was also nominated for his screenplay for Chicago and wrote Dreamgirls and Kinsey. Sounds like we may have a bit of an educated eye added to the series. Even I’m interested to see how he can turn Twilight into something smart instead of just a trashy romance novel.

Breaking Dawn is already well in the works (like that’s any big surprise, this franchise is like conveyor belt for vampires), is currently being written by Melissa Rosenberg, and will star your favorite trio: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.

Stephenie Meyer the author of the series seems to supporting the new director and rightly so, he may be able to bring some much needed refinement to her word. Meyer’s stated…

“I’m so thrilled that Bill wants to work with us. I think he’s going to be a great fit, and I’m excited to see what he does with the material.”

Erik Feig, President of Production and Acquisitions, for Summit Entertainment stated…

“Bringing Stephenie Meyer’s BREAKING DAWN to the screen requires a graceful and intelligent hand and we believe Bill Condon is exactly the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense creativity and subtle sensitivity.”

I actually agree and am interested to see if Bill can turn the film into something as great as his past work. The gauntlet has been set! And the big question is, will he use the SAME tree shot that all the other movies seem to be using? You know the one, where the camera seems above the Oregon forest… it’s in the latest trailer and the first two movies.

The third film in the franchise, Eclipse is due in theaters on June 30, 2010! They’re so fast with these things we may have Breaking Down by Christmas! (Not really, that was a joke — don’t send me angry e-mails when the real date gets announced. Yes I’m looking at you!)

What do you all think of Bill Condon directing the 4th film?
