Following in the footsteps of Alex Pettyfer and Sharlto Copley, Australian actress Teresa Palmer has joined the cast of DJ Caruso’s I Am Number Four. It’s an upcoming sc-fi adaptation of a novel written by James Frey and Jobie Hughes that will be produced by Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg for DreamWorks.
The story for I Am Number Four centers on a group of nine earthbound aliens who escaped their home planet just before it was annihilated by a rival species. Hiding out on Earth, the title character disguises himself as a human high schooler, only to discover he is still being hunted by his planet’s enemy. The screenplay was written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.
Palmer will star as Number Six, one of the nine aliens seeking refuge on earth after leaving their home planet. Pettyfer will play the film’s title character Number Four and Copley will star as his mentor. Before the film’s release, Palmer can be seen in the Disney fantasy The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, while Pettyfer will make his American debut in Beastly both due out this summer.
They’ve got two aliens down and seven more to go. We wonder if they’re actually going to cast all nine and give each of them their own story? Wouldn’t that be a lot of ground to cover for one film? Maybe there will be a choice few who have major storylines like Four and Six and the others will just hang out in the background like the majority of the characters in X-Men 3: The Last Stand. What do you think?
What do you think of Palmer’s casting in I Am Number Four? Was she a good pick?
