Hey everybody, it’s Raaandy! The hilarious star of Parks and Recreations and last year’s Funny People Aziz Ansari has just landed the gig of a lifetime. The 27 year old comedian/actor has signed on to host the 19th Annual MTV Movie Awards following in the footsteps of SNL’s Andy Samberg.

For the past few years Ansari has crept up from the stand up circuit landing gigs in both television and film. One of the reason’s network executives picked him for the Movie Awards is because of his former show “Human Giant,” which actually ran on MTV for two seasons. The network’s general manager Stephen Friedman said Ansari is the perfect host for “the movie industry’s most rebellious night on television.”

This might be the one year I return to watching the Movie Awards as a fan. Ever since Twilight began dominating the ceremony and the network it’s been hard to take but with Ansari onstage we’re in good hands. While he’s awaiting the June 6th premiere of the show he’ll be on the road doing what he does best–stand up comedy.

He’s scheduled to begin his “Dangerously Delicious” stand up tour this summer and will also appear in Get Him to the Greek, which hits theaters in June.

Do you think Aziz Ansari is the right man for the job?
