The last time Daniel Radcliffe starred in a Broadway play he was buck-ass naked. The young Harry Potter actor literally broke out of his child star mold when he appeared on stage in the nude for the 2008 production of Equus and he’s ready to do it again. Radcliffe has signed on to star in the musical satire, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Get your jazz hands ready…
Radcliffe will sing and dance in the Pulitzer Prize winning play that’s scheduled to open in the spring of 2011. He’ll star as the story’s unlikely hero J. Pierrepont Finch, a young man who climbs the corporate ladder from window washer to top executive at the World Wide Wicket Co. Radcliffe will be following in the footsteps of Matthew Broderick who previously played the role during the show’s 1995 revival. How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying will be directed and choreographed by Rob Ashford.
Depending on how long the play runs it could interfere with Radcliffe’s whirlwind promotion for the final Harry Potter movie The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 because it opens on July 15, 2011. That’s only a couple of months after his show’s debut and the last time we checked the preparation that goes into doing a stage production takes up a LOT of time. Hopefully he’ll be able to juggle both.
Are you interested in seeing Potter hit the stage again? Do you think he can balance both Potter and the play?
