Oh, thank the gods—Conan O’Brien is returning to a television near you this fall. According to CNN (who is like TBS but owned by Time Warner), O’Brien will be starting a new late-night talk show to debut in November. Immediately following O’Brien’s new late-night show will be George Lopez with Lopez Tonight at midnight.
While one would have hoped for a two-birds-one-stone situation in which Conan returns to television only to utterly banish and destroy the sheer horror of horror s that is Lopez tonight, you gotta take what you can get. Let’s just hope that the resulting matter/ anti-matter collision of Conan’s humor to Lopez’s schtick will be enough to obliterate the latter.
O’Brien had this to say:
“In three months I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theater, and now I’m headed to basic cable…my plan is working perfectly…the good news: I will be doing a show on TBS starting in November! The bad news: I’ll be playing Rudy on the all new Cosby Show.”
Oh CoCo—how we’ve missed you.
In other news Jay Leno announced today that, fed up with NBC’s treatment of him and the resultant bad publicity, he would like to ditch the Tonight Show and nab the late-night talk show slot just before Geoge Lopez on TBS. He’s heard that some other guy already has it, but hey—he’s Jay Leno. He deserves it.
What do you think of Conan’s move to TBS?
