I love the fact that the title of this film is so risque that if the publicists sent it out with the correct wording everyone would delete it. To avoid their film becoming SPAM, instead of writing Pornography: A Thriller I received an e-mail entitled: “THREE NEW CLIPS For the Film Called ‘a Crazily Ambitious Debut Thriller’ by LA Weekly”.
After watching the trailer and clips below, there’s no doubt that this film definitely gives porno a welcome “killer” edge. It was only a matter of time before real porn and the torture porn in horror films were mixed. And some of the acting in it looks like it could be part of a porno! (Zing!) I believe all of the cast members are real actors, although can anyone confirm that? I’m not up on all the latest male porno actors – don’t know why!
Check out the confusing trailer below…
If you were a bit lost, these clips might help…
Or maybe just writing out the synopsis???
Synopsis: Set in the world of gay adult entertainment, Pornography: A Thriller is a chilling nightmare told in three parts, centering on the mysterious disappearance of legendary “boy-next-door” porn star, Mark Anton, and the two men who become obsessed with finding out what happened to him. The first story details the final days of Mark Anton in 1995. The second story concerns Michael, a present-day writer, whose obsessive investigation of Anton’s disappearance begins to blur between reality and fantasy. In the last story, porn star turned director, Matt Stevens, channels a script of Anton’s supposed demise and begins a seemingly cursed production. As it unfolds, surreal and supernatural elements increasingly haunt and connect the three stories, weaving together a world begging to know…what is real?
I’m still a bit confused, but I’m guessing that’s the point! My guess is that Anton is involved in the actual movie and torture himself, trying to make it as “real” and “authentic” as possible. He plays the good guy journalist, but is actually an evil, torturing mother-fucker.
What do you think? Worth watching?
