Tina Fey returns to her old stomping grounds at “Saturday Night Live” this week to inject some life into the painfully stale sketch series. The actress will be on board as host to promote her new film Date Night, which co-stars fellow NBC Thursday night staple Steve Carell. Will Fey’s awkward yet irreverent humor be enough to keep our eyes open for the duration of the show? Here’s a look at her promo for the upcoming episode…
Fey will be paired with teen sensation Justin Bieber as the musical guest for the April 10th episode, which begs the question, will his fans be allowed to stay up that late to watch him? Fey’s audience won’t have such limitations and hopefully the sketches she performs won’t either.
Over the past few years it’s felt like “Saturday Night Live” has been on life support. Don’t get me wrong Fey’s stint as Sarah Palin during the 2008 Presidential Election won Lorne Michaels some major brownie points but that was then and this is now. These days it feels like viewers are watching out of habit as opposed to humor. Please Tina, save us from the repetitive comedic wasteland that “SNL” has become.
Do you think Tina Fey will be able to bring the funny back to SNL?
