New Harry Potter Books on the Way?

NEW HARRY POTTER BOOK: If you’re one of the many die hard Harry Potter fans who were heartbroken after the release of the final book The Deathly Hallows you’re in luck. Author and Potter creator J.K. Rowling has put out the word that she’s not done with the wizard just yet and a new book is on the horizon.
Rowling recently spoke to the Washington Post about her future plans for Potter as she attended the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. The event was filled with children and the author was on hand to answer questions and read a few stories. One of the questions she was asked regarded whether or not she wanted to pen any future Potter books and she replied, “Yes, I do, and I am. I’m quite sure in the not-too-distant future I will bring out another book.”
Even though she’s been bitten by the Potter bug again the story won’t come as soon as you’d like. She stated that she might revisit the series “10 years from now” depending on how she feels. From what I’ve heard from followers of the books and the films Potter mania is still going strong and she could easily dominate the market if she chooses to return. Are you ready to read more Potter?

Harry and Co. have some exams to pass, so another year at Hogwarts seems necessary to fulfill graduation requirements. There is also the matter of their year long holiday after finishing and a few marriages. Questions also remain as to whether Harry leads a life of leisure, works in the ministry or teaches at Hogwarts (again). Then there is the matter of witches giving birth, especially Hermione, whose muggle parents might have to cope with differing medical regimines.
There is also the question of how Harry reacts without the great crisis of his life facing him. He had a duality relationship with Tom Riddle, who is now out of the picture. A part of himself, albeit the part that was a Horcrux, is now gone. That will require some readjustment and probably the inability to communicate with snakes.

If she does write more books i think she should either start a whole new series that's totaly unrelated to Harry Potter, or (to continue with the Potters) she could write from Dumbledor's past. We've already had a glimpse of it in DH, so it would be pretty easy to keep going with that.

I would love another book. I am 55 and still intrigued by wht the author can come up with. I leave it up to her to come up with the writings as she has done a wonderful job previously. I do wish it wouldn't be so dark, though. I loved the humor inflicted in the first books and movies.

i agree with you. i would love her to do a book(s) on voldemort. She painted a nice little picture of what of what he was like in his youth that i'd much rather read about then harry, ron, and hermione's life after school. i think a voldemort book would be the only way you to add to the potter series. What more can harry, ron, and hermione save before the story becomes that much more unbelievable. You could do a dumbledore book but then you have another series similar to the original. A voldemort series just makes the most sense. No author writes a book for the villian always the hero.

I would probably enjoy anything she can come up with. Just because Voldermort is dead, does not mean there is no more evil or conflict in the world. There were evil people before him just as assured as there will be others afterwards.

i would love to see a prequel on voldemorts rise to power, starting from a young age. it would also be really neat to see a character who didn't have a "life event" that changed him/her forever into an evil person…. classic villains (ex: Darth Vader) started as young innocent beings that had something go wrong and they turned out bad. heck, even satan was once an angel of god. I think of voldemort as 100% pure evil… it would be neat to see a story on the concept of a pure evil being.. not outside factors leading to the search for ultimate power.

I agree with you!!! Writing about James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus, Snape and Lily would be way cool!!! However, I think the story about Voldemort would be the better story line to tell. In the Potter series he is so mysterious and his background story leaves alot to the imagination.

I would be incredibly happy! I grew up with this series (the last one came out the year I graduated high school) and it would be awesome to see what JK Rowling could do with the characters we've all come to know and love. If there is another Potter book, it would be by the original author so its not like we have to worry about some stranger coming along and ruining the series. I'm very interested to see where she could take this.
For the record, I will read anything that JK Rowling will write!

If she does, Harry won't be the main character. Plus JKR said within TEN years time, she MIGHT enter the wizarding world again. That's not an exact yes. I think if she did write another HP boook then it will focus on Albus Severus Potter. In a documentary, JKR said she was very interested in his character. However, she did say she will be releasing a non-Potter book in the not too distant future!! I can't wait!! I just love her writing style and her stories.

To be quite honest, I hope she doesn't. The encyclopedia would be a welcome addition, but it feels wrong to have different main characters in the same wizarding world we know and love. I'd be quite interested to see her writing a new series, though. Under a pen name, of course. I get the feeling I wouldn't be the only one a tad prejudiced towards loving the a series just because it has her name attached.

If she does, I'm certain this creative genius will only do so if she feels she has a good story to tell. I think it would be fun just to keep the wizard world alive – even with new "lead" characters and a stop by in supporting roles by some of those characters from Harry Potter. I'd guess she'll come up with something more creative than a story about Harry Potters kids – at least I hope she will.

i would absolutely ADORE a prequel talking about the marauders and james's time at hogwarts. i love harry's father's generation and i always loved the flashbacks included in the books themselves, i would absolutely love to read more about the adults of harry's generation as kids themselves. i would much prefer that to a book set in the future with harry's kids

Harry becomes an auror at 17, eventually becoming head of the department in 2007. JK Rowling posted that on her website when she finally listed Harry Potter as the Wizard of the Month.

Are we really going to do the star wars thing? The story was great. The mystery about Harry's past is part of what made it great. I only had one problem with the ending. I wanted to know how the aftermath of the battle was handled. What happened to the ones left to pick up the mess. How did they put their lives back together. How did Harry's fame keep him from a normal life with his girl. How did Ron handle the loss of his brother. How did they all handle all the loss? Who took over what kind of role. Did the gang help put the school to rights. What about Hagrid? The jump in time to putting his own kids on the train was a little too much for me. It left me wanting to know how and why they ended up where they did. Write another book PLEASE!!!!! Fill us in.

Sure, but 10 years from now is a bit rediculous. I mean, come on lady. All those who love the series will more then likely loose interest and who knows about this new upcoming generation of readers. But then again, she has made millions on the series, so she is sitting nicely right now. If I was a writer, I would end the series as she did and leave it alone. She has an excellent and vivid imagination to work on other books. It seems a bit of a waste to stretch out the series any further when she could come up with some other amazing story lines. But then again, maybe not. Harry Potter would be a tough act to follow.

I'm super psyched to read this! i hope a book comes out sooner than i hope. The first Potter book came out when i was in my first year too, so i greatly bonded with the whole lifestyle. i would like to know more about the 2nd gen. Harry's and friends children and if Albus will become just like his dad, and be really close friends with Scorpio. I think that should be mentioned. if they mention that, i would be content, and then the book can take on whatever form.

I was reading a old comment and thought of a couple of added thoughts to it for another book. They were saying Just because Voldemort is dead doesn't mean Evil is. I think a great book would be a chapter on each death eater on why and how they came to be death eaters. Then chapters on what they do after Vodemort is dead and like have them try to take over and become the new voldemorts or ust one of them… Something like that. I hope this make sense to someone!

she should write another harry potter book but find like minded authors to design characters and pick up the bug she has, so for example, the next book would focus on harry being a auror or something, but with the introduction of new characters, these other authors are trusted to write the books of said characters, therefor the universe can expand while harry potter within itself is still the same. either that or ive wondered what would have happend if harry and hermonie got caught using the time turner in the prisoner of askaban, i bet that would make an interesting story, maby not a full novel, but just a little "what if" scenario. i think there is alot that can be done with harry potter but JK rowling needs to relise that, to fully utlise it, she needs to hand off peices to trusted people. Who wouldnt love to read "Nevil Longbottom and Dumbledoors Army"

I think that this news is great for every body who has ever read or watch Harry Potter, it would be fab if J K Rowling could fill in the missing story of what happened after Harry defeated Lord Voldamort died. If MS Rowling decides to do a follow on story it would be great if she could write about Harry's life without Voldamort? putting in some twists eg a vilian from one of the other wizarding world trying to take on harry and rest of his gang.

I think i like the idea of James and Lily at school, a prelude to the original series would be amazing. So many questions would be answered. How did James and Lily become so close to Dumbledore? How did Lily go from thinking James was an 'arrogant toerag' to loving him so much? What was Snape's life like? What were teenage Death Eaters like? What was the ministry of magic up to? Was Hagrid friends with James? The Prelude series, if that was what it were to be, could follow them both through their Hogwarts years then the 4 years they were in the Order of the Phoenix before they died. I'd imagine also, id get to learn a lot more about the Black family, I was never able to get attached to Sirius during the roughly 1 1/2 book's he was in, so I wasn't really heartbroken when he died. Same with Remus, Peter, & Severus.

i reckon it should be set while harrys kids are at school. they form a friendship with dracos son but when harry and ron find out they think that dracos son is spying on them for their father. Arthur Weasley could be minister and harry head of the aurer department. Draco works in the ministry but hes had a suspicious absence and people think hes trying to death eaters or something but it turns out hes trying to thwart a baddie…..or sumthing

MORE! PLEASE WRITE MORE!! I think she should definitely make another book and have Harry and Hermione get together-it was so obvious she and him were supposed to. On top of that it was also plain to see he was meant to be DADA professor and Headmaster. I for one am not at all happy with the books! She needs to make more-and bring back Dumbledore and Snape. They had pathetic endings for such great men! Plus so much was left out-the founders obviously played a much bigger role.

Hermione being my favorite, I don't think I can picture her as a professor just yet. I would love to know what happened as far as her parents and how she being a "muggle" dealt with the aftermath with Ron by her side.
I think the next book if any, should most certainly be the repercussions and emotions of the aftermath. That would be great.

I believe Harry Potter is completely done. There was a destiny, a central central struggle, which was utterly fulfilled. To add more would be to change Harry Potter. Instead, she should create another character that exists in this same type of world, but at a different time and of a different age – such as as 30-40, or 60-80. Harry Potter is done.

I think that she should do two 3 book trilogies. The first trilogy would focus on the Marauders (James, Sirius, Remus, and Pettigrew) and Voldemort's rise, also delving into the first Order of the Phoenix. It would end where book one of Harry Potter begins.
The second trilogy I would suggest as Ron and Hermione and Harry and Ginny's kids fighting a new movement of evil at Hogwarts. Remember, some Death Eaters escaped after Battle of Hogwarts. Harry and his friends deal with their own problems, facing old enemies (Death Eaters, yes, but maybe a return of Voldemort is in order… if she finds a way without ruining every shred of continuity, then that might be good).

I think it would be interesting if she had written about if Snape *hadn't* died and what he would continue to live his life as. What kind of relationship he would have with Harry, Ron and Hermione.
Would he be put in St. Mungo's for apparent insanity and released years after Voldemort's death.
Or another one happened to be if Crookshanks happened to be an Animagus, and was perhaps in close contact with the Marauders.
Hermione would discover this and return for her seventh year at Hogwarts with Ginny Weasley, and they find Snape's memories of his teenage life and decide to explore it.
Either way, I think Snape would be the best bet for an 8th book.

I think the story should focus on Voldemort's beginning. With his family story which was not included in the movies, show the beginning of Voldemort, how he started with the hocruxes , then show the battles with the old order of the phoenix, and finish with the arrival of Harry and the demise of Voldemort! I think the next book should start with hermoine getting her parents back and then about all their kids at school explaining how they all turned out. A big part of the book should be about Rose and Scorpious. Their forbidden love would lead some drama into the story and and make it more exciting to read about because of the two families being rivals. She could make the storie about the rise of another bad wizard at hogwarts like their new headmaster, or a deatheater that got away and the kids could work together to catch him. Or she could make the story from Scorpiouses view and coming to school with everyone hating him for a crime he didn’t commit. Trying to repair the Malfoys reputation. I’m sure whatever she dose it will be a grate read.

Sure there are many ways she could write a new book. A prequel of how everything started, or an epilogue after the war. But that would seem to carry on too much. Yes, I love Harry potter but his life at Hogwarts is over. It would be bad if his kids were in the same situation because then it would seem like the first seven books. I suggest that there are a new set of characters, further into the future. Longbottom and some of the other characters can be in it, but it would seem better if they were teachers. (For Longbottom I would say headmaster.) But other than that, cut all of the ties with Harry, Ron, and Hermione and their kids. Again, I love them and no one can replace them, but if you write about them you have a huge chance of ruining the whole series.
