Ryan Reynolds definitely has a thing for comic book adaptations—in addition to having starred in the atrociously bad Blade: Trinity and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, as well as having nabbed the lead roles in the upcoming Green Lantern and Deadpool adaptations, Collider reports that Mr. Scarlett Johansson will co-star in yet another comic based flick, the oddball R.I.P.D. (Rest In Peace Department).
According to producer Neal Moritz, the story goes like this:
“It’s about two cops, one recently dead and a gunslinger who’s been dead for hundreds of years who work on the Rest in Peace department – which is the police department of the dead. And they basically…it takes place on a normal day and it’s about trying to keep the dead quiet.”
Reynolds is already set to play the newly dead cop, while his co-star is yet to be cast. And while the premise seems more than a little strange, it can’t be any worse than the last Wolverine or X-Men movie, right? Wait—is Brett Ratner directing this thing? He’s not? Ok, then no, this definitely can’t be any worse than the last X-Men or Wolverine flicks. Whew. Dodged that bullet.
No official release date for R.I.P.D. has been set.
What do you think of casting Reynolds as a zombie cop?
