The people behind the upcoming reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise are persistent. There have been rumors circulating for over a year regarding their interest in Transformers star Megan Fox to take on the film’s title character, but the actress adamantly denies any interest on her part to star. Do you think that stopped producers from putting out another offer? Nope!
According to a movie insider, Fox is the logical choice to follow in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft (not in my opinion), but she’s not interested in stepping into the Oscar winners shoes. She’s said to be sick of all the comparisons between her and Jolie and is afraid that starring in Tomb Raider would only cement her as a junior version of the actress. The source goes on to say, “The offer has been on the table for Megan for a while but she’s reluctantly turned it down.”
Instead, the studio will look for an unknown actress to play the ass kicking archaeologist, which I think is the smart way to go. Actually, the BEST thing to do would be not making the movie at all. The first two bored me to tears, and I couldn’t stand Jolie’s attempt at a British accent. And I know for sure that Fox’s “acting chops” would surely have me running out of the theater if she accepts the gig.
What do you think of Fox’s rejection of Tomb Raider? Do you think she’s made the right choice?
