I guess Marvel is making up for their decision to leave Mickey Rourke out of the domestic poster for Iron Man 2 by releasing a few new stills from the movie. Three photos have debuted online and they feature Iron Man himself, director Jon Favreau (in character as Hogan), Rourke, and what looks like a cockatoo bird.
Let’s talk about these three photos shall we? They debuted over on Yahoo, and give us a nice look at Rourke’s other alterego, Ivan Vanko the civilian version of Whiplash. If you look closely at his photo you can pick up on a few clues as to what’s going on in that particular scene.
First off, people are dead. There are two bodies that I can see hanging behind him, just over his shoulder. Second, there’s blood on his hands, figuratively and literally and three, there’s a bird on his shoulder. I’m assuming the cockatoo is just one of the many eccentricities Rourke wanted to add to the character because I don’t remember Whiplash having one in the comic (correct me if I’m wrong).
As for the other two photos, Iron Man looks pissed and Hogan the driver looks like he’s rushing to give Tony his travel-sized Iron Man suit. You can tell from the obvious details on the outer casing in comparison to the shot at the end of the trailer.
Here are the photos below…
Iron Man 2 hits theaters on May 7, 2010.
What do you think is going on in the scene with Whiplash? Any observations that you picked up that I missed?
