Remember “Blossom“? She was the title character of the nineties series that starred Mayim Bialik as an awkward teen with wicked dance moves. The actress has been out of the spotlight since the cancellation of the show but over the past few years she’s been giving acting another shot. According to THR, her latest gig will be a stint on the hit CBS geek-centric comedy, “The Big Bang Theory.”

Bialik’s appearance on the show will be good news for Jim Parson’s alter ego Sheldon, because she’s set to play his potential love interest. Essentially, she will be “a female version of him, a nerdy brain that he meets on eHarmony.” The character is set up to be recurring if everything goes well in the chemistry department between the characters and the viewers at home.

If you’re really excited to see Sheldon get some lovin’ you’ll still have to wait a while, because Bialik won’t appear until the May 24th episode, which is also the season finale.

Even though Bialik has been away from the sitcom scene since her teen years she’s recently made several appearances on shows and is slowly but surely making her way back. She’s appeared on Fox’s “‘Til Death” and ABC Family’s “Secret Life of the American Teenager.” The latter being a personal guilty pleasure of mine.
