Last December, a teaser trailer was released for Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer’s upcoming collaboration, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The film stars Nicolas Cage, a bad wig, and How To Train Your Dragon’s Jay Baruchel as the title character. Today an international trailer has been released and it shows some new footage, more action but sadly, less Monica Bellucci.

The film is loosely based on the Disney classic Fantasia, but it takes place in present day Manhattan. Cage plays a contemporary sorcerer who leaves everything in the hands of his apprentice (Baruchel) when he goes on a trip. In the film Alfred Molina plays the main villain, an evil sorcerer who believes the world centers around two things, power and control.

The film hits U.S. theaters on July 16th and is directed by Jon Turteltaub. I must admit, the special effects in this trailer look a lot better than Bruckheimer’s other summer flick, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (which also stars Molina). The shot of the fire breathing dragon towards the end looks amazing, and the sequences with the mutating car are also great. As a whole the movie doesn’t look groundbreaking in the story department, but I’ve heard some good things about it from insiders who’ve seen an early cut.
