For those of you who have been anxiously awaiting the opening day of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, we’ve got some good news for you. Thursday morning Universal Orlando announced when they would officially open the gates to the Potter theme park. According to Reuters, everything is going down this summer and you can make your reservations now.
The latest news regarding Potter’s Wizarding World has to do with the newest additions to the site as well as some of its top notch attractions. The 20 acre park has been in development for over 5 years, but any details regarding its opening date have been tightly sealed since 2007. That was then, and this is now and the folks over at Universal are spilling the beans on how and when you can get your tickets.
They’ve started selling vacation packages for a four-night stay, which include an on-site hotel room, park tickets and various amenities, start at $645 per adult or $1,548 for a family of four. Over on Universal’s official website they gave specific details on what the major rides and attractions the Wizarding World will have to offer…
- The signature ride, “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey,” starts in Hogwart’s Castle and will run through Professor Dumbledore’s office, the Gryffindor common room and the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom.
- A second ride, Dragon Challenge, an intense dual roller coaster, will provide guests with a view of the Goblet of Fire and the Triwizard Cup. Guests will choose their dragon and ride through what the website calls “an intense aerial chase” in which the dragons seem to twist, loop and nearly collide.
- A family ride, Flight of the Hippogriff, will take guests past Hagrid’s hut. On their way to the ride, guests will be instructed on the proper way to approach a Hippogriff, Rowling’s magical creature with the head, wings and front legs of a giant eagle and body, hind legs and tail of a horse.
It seems as if all the time they’ve spent on putting this park together went to good use. These are all things that can be found in the Harry Potter universe that die hard fans will want to see and be a part of. The park opens on June 18th so make your reservations ASAP, because I’m pretty sure tickets will sell out fast.
