Next month at the TCM Classic Film Festival, Oscar winner Anjelica Huston and her brother and fellow actor Danny Huston will be honored as part of The Huston Dynasty. According to the Associated Press, the duo will be on hand to present a special tribute to their family which will be entitled, “Hollywood Dynasty: The Hustons.”
The Huston siblings will appear on April 23rd to present three films and take part in a question and answer panel with the audience. One of the features screened will be John Huston’s 1948 classic, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. It will be a completely restored and reissued version of the film that he both wrote and directed. The preservation of Huston’s work will solidify his legacy as well as his children’s by allowing it to reach new generations. Here’s what Anjelica had to say about her father’s work…
“So many films get forgotten about and deteriorate, so it makes my family and myself very happy to see the kind of restoration Turner (Classic Movies) puts into these movies. It’s very exciting, like a renaissance. My father’s films are still very much a part of the American conscience. It’s so encouraging to see these films reissued.”
The Huston Family has a long list of achievements to their credit, John was a two time Oscar winner who was an actor, writer, and director. Some of his films included The Maltese Falcon, Key Largo, The Misfits, and The Asphalt Jungle. His father Walter Huston also won a Best Supporting Oscar for his role in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, and Anjelica won her Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Prizzi’s Honor, both were performances directed by John.
The TCM Festival will run from April 22-25 in Los Angeles, California.
