Chris Evans Accepts Captain America Role!
By Krystal Clark
Holy crap! Chris Evans is going to go through with it! According to THR, the actor has accepted the lead role in Marvel’s Captain America. The 28 year old who is known for his two appearances as Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch in The Fantastic Four movies, will now be known as Steve Rogers aka The First Avenger in Joe Johnston’s adaptation.
Evans was previously on a short list of actors that included John Krasinski, Mike Vogel, Patrick Flueger, Chace Crawford, Garrett Hedlund, Scott Porter, and Michael Cassidy. Just last week it was announced that the studio selected him as their primary candidate to play the Captain and according to sources close to the actor, he’s finalizing his contract as I type. Marvel hasn’t released an official statement and neither has the actor’s reps but the trade is adamant that he will yield the shield.
Not only will Evans headline his own movie, The First Avenger: Captain America, but he will also be the leader of the Avengers team, which will have him going toe to toe with Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and possibly Edward Norton’s Hulk. Evans does have screen presence, and he can snark with the best of them, but is he really the guy who can take the Avengers to the next level?
I hate seeing actors do multiple comic book movies. Darn you Ryan Reynolds (Hannibal King, Deadpool, Green Lantern), do you see what you’ve started! Evans will also star in the DC/Vertigo Comics’ adaptation The Losers, which opens in theaters on April 23rd.
The actor is already listed as Steve Rogers on the Captain America IMDB page, alongside Hugo Weaving as the film’s villain Red Skull. The movie is slated to begin production sometime this summer, and we’re still waiting to see who will play his female lead.
The First Avenger: Captain America is scheduled for release on July 22, 2011.
What do you think about Chris Evans being cast as Captain America? Do you think he’s the right choice?

Chris Evans will not do this is pour choosing on marvels part who will play the human torch now? Captain America Should be played by someone who is not a superhero already. Perhaps an up and coming actor. I really disagree with this choice

at firts i hated the choce even though im a fan of evans. he as already played a superhero and was the best par tof those fantastic four movies but the more i think about it the more i feel he can bring a real humian, selfes, noble and honest qualities to the charactr. he was really good in push and sunshine. and ive re watch some of his movies and ithink he'll do a great job. i can see him portraying cap the way he was in the ultimate avengers animated movie just an ordianry guy with extraordinary abilities.

I really think evans is a good actor but its weird seeing him play another super hero. You can’t have the same actor playing two diffrent super heroes…I personally think the role should have been offerd to sam worthington I think we would have been a great captain america

As mostly everyone else says. I think all the superhero (Marvel) movies have been awesome from the Hulk (Norton), Fantastic 4, Ironman (& 2), etc… and we think Chris Evans is an incredible actor but what happens when they all have to work together. Reed Richards is not gonna know who to talk to and the "Thing" won't know who to mess with Johnny or Capt America. LOL When The Avengers comes out I'd like to see all of them work together against "The Red Skull"
No matter what I'm gonna go see it!!!

I'm still thingking that this is not a good idea, its loosing reality from the movies and that;s what the people want, pretend that is real so I agree that sam worthington could give a better role for this character.
