Studio heads are !diots and they aren't even moguls anymore, just lawyers and investors. What a joke. I can't tell you how many younger directors, aka 'less expensive' directors I've had the mispleasure of working with. They waste time and money on a set, which ironically is what the studios hire them to save. I've even had to watch actors set up these idiot's shots because they don't know enough… I did have the pleasure of working with Reitman. The man has an amazing comedic instinct. Experience counts for a lot in film making. In spite of the 'over 40' writers winning a discrimination lawsuit, ageism is alive and well in Hollywood.

Ivan Reitman is who should direct this move and no one else, you don't take who created the ghostbuster's and kick him to the curb, they should be welcoming him with open arms for god sake. IF there not carefull they will lose the actor's as well, and if Bill Murray, Dan Akroid, Sigourney Weaver aint in it,then don't waste the fans time. Let's be serious SONY, if the DIRECTOR walk's, what's to say the actor's won't follow? GET IT RIGHT SONY, YOUR SLIPPING!!!!

Do we really need a new Ghostbusters? It can do nothing but be dissapointing and hurt the other two. There is a time or place for everything and Ghostbusters was the 80's.

I'm so sick of studios taking classic comic books, TV shows and old movies, using them for their existing fanbase and reputation, then leaving them on the side of the road like a $2. whore.

Where's the respect for the original material which sold the idea for their movie in the first place?

If they're not going to do Ghostbusters 3 right, I'd prefer that they just left this classic alone rather than ruin its name with another hacky Hollywood knockoff.

Its all about the money. Big business is always willing to trash true creative artistic value for the almighty dollar. Just look at all the movies that come out now and all the pop stars in today's music scene. More than half of all new stars in Hollywood have no talent at all, they just fit the image. I think the current state of pop culture is a tragedy. Is it just me or is everything looking and sounding like the 80's? I have nothing against the 80's they were alright, but do we have to live thru them again?????? with that said, I hope they do not ruin this movie by trying to Hollywoodize it.

I agree with Spockette. I have been a fan of Ghostbusters since I was 12. I would love to see a new movie. But it needs to have the quirkiness of the first two. That is what made Ghostbusters so good. It wasn't funny like National Lampoon or Saturday Night Live, but it was quirky (sorry, no other word to describe it) and unique.
