Just got into ShoWest last night, got my passport and had my first glass of free wine at a cinema during the event. There’s something very nice about relishing in your favorite alcoholic beverage while watching a movie. Gotta love Vegas!

Last night opened with The Joneses, Get Low (already saw at Sundance -Read Review), The Kids Are All Right, The Square, Twelve (also reviewed from Sundance) and Racing Dreams. Seeing as we already covered Twelve and Get Low at Sundance, I went for the one film I missed out on in Utah, The Kids Are Alright, and it was more than alright, it was spectacular.

It was one of the most honest portrayals of a relationship that I have ever seen on screen. With amazing performances across the board, a homosexual theme playing effortlessly in the background, and a script full of well rounded, dramatically logical characters who each had their moment to shine.

There was a lot of good buzz coming out of both The Joneses as a fast paced, light hearted comedy and Racing Dreams which seems to be the next indie catching everyone’s attention.

Right now I’m off to go watch a Disney presentation followed by a screening of Toy Story 3! After all the sneak peeks and teasing, I can’t wait to finally see this film in 3D so I can confirm if this trend that’s taken Hollywood by storm is really all it’s cracked up to be. With all the 3D merchandise they’re pushing here, if ShoWest can’t convince me, I’m not sure what can.

Later on today we have a screening of Amanda Seyfried’s Letter’s to Juliet, which I’m going into with low expectations, lets see if it can sway my mind.

That’s all I’ve got so far. Stay tuned for more ShoWest updates…
