The insanity surrounding Captain America continues to get grow with the latest batch of rumors surrounding the film. Multiple sources are reporting that Channing Tatum is now up for the role of Steve Rogers, and Keira Knightley, Emily Blunt, and She’s Out Of My League star Alice Eve could appear as his female lead. I knew his name would pop up in this race sooner or later.

THR is reporting that Tatum has joined the ranks of Ryan Phillippe, Garrett Hedlund, Chris Evans, and Mike Vogel as a possible Steve Rogers candidate. Not only has he been approached but Wilson Bethel who co-starred in the HBO drama “Generation Kill” has also screen-tested for the part.

On the lady front, British actress Keira Knightley was approached by the studio last week about starring in the film but we’re not sure for what character. Sources say it could be Betsy Ross, Rogers former flame during World War II. Also in the running are Emily Blunt and Alice Eve according to Deadline, but it looks like Blunt might have the upper hand. Don’t forget, she was originally Marvel’s first pick to play Black Widow in Iron Man 2 but was forced to withdraw from the project due to scheduling conflicts with the Fox film, Gulliver’s Travels.

Out of this group of ladies, I’d love to see Blunt or Eve be cast. Nothing against Knightley, but we need some fresh meat added here. As for the Captain America race, I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, these are slim pickings. All the actors in contention can get the physical part of the character down, but what about the personality of Steve Rogers? I don’t see it in any of them.

What do you think about the latest group of Captain America candidates? Who should play the female lead out of these three?
