Former “24” star Elisha Cuthbert has left the high pressure world of Jack Bauer for new horizons. According to THR, the actress has landed a new television gig that will feature her front and center. It’s for an ABC comedy entitled, “Happy Endings” that will allow her to engage in some lighter material which is a welcomed change from her past roles.
“Happy Endings” will feature Cuthbert as half of a “was to be married” couple who, after breaking up at the altar, must figure out how they and their four friends can maintain their relationship. The friends will include a hilarious bunch of actors like Casey Wilson, who was formally a regular on “Saturday Night Live,” Damon Wayans Jr. (self-explanatory), and Eliza Coupe from “Scrubs.”
Can I say how awesome it is that Wilson will be back on television? She was great on SNL, and her firing from that show still boggles my mind. At least now, she’s landed a steady gig alongside a talented crew of actors. ABC has been on a roll lately with their comedies with three out of four of the new series they premiered this season becoming hits. If they stick with their winning formula of dysfunctional relationships and a single camera format, they might have another diamond in the rough.
What do you think about the cast of Happy Endings? Does it have an interesting premise?
