Is it wrong that the title Arabian Nights always makes me think of Aladdin? Greats song, great movie, but it has nothing to do with this project. According to THR, Liam Hemsworth (Chris Hemsworth’s younger brother) has been tapped to star in a new action flick of the same name, and guess what? It will be in 3D.
Arabian Nights will be directed by Chuck Russell and is an Inferno Entertainment production. Hemsworth is currently in final negotiations to star as the lead in the film that was written by Russell and Barry P. Ambrose. Arabian Nights will be a period piece that “centers on a young commander (Hemsworth) who, after his king is murdered in a coup, joins forces with Sinbad and Aladdin to rescue Queen Scheherazade.”
The shoot is expected to begin sometime near the end of this summer. Hemsworth last appeared in the sci-fi film, Knowing and will show up in the upcoming romantic, coming of age drama, The Last Song with Miley Cyrus. The actor is slowly making strides in his career by taking on tentpole projects that require him to be front and center. His brother Chris knows a little something about that, since he’s currently playing the title character in Marvel’s Thor.
What do you think about Liam Hemsworth taking on Arabian Nights? Do you think he will be the next young action star?
