Earlier today, we brought you the first photos from Zack Snyder’s animated 3D feature Legend of the Guardians and now the teaser trailer has dropped. This is a big deal considering it wasn’t supposed to officially debut until tomorrow with Alice in Wonderland. I guess Warner Bros said screw that and decided to release it a day earlier.

Legend of the Guardians is based on the first three books of Kathryn Lasky’s series, Guardians of Ga’Hoole. It follows Soren (Jim Sturgess), a young barn owl who is kidnapped by the owls of the St. Aegolius Academy for Orphaned Owls, or St. Aggie’s. The academy is supposed to be an orphanage, but instead it brainwashes its pupils into becoming soldiers who will ultimately clash with the wise, peaceful owls of Ga’Hoole.

Besides Sturgess, the film features the vocal talents of Helen Mirren, Emilie de Ravin, Hugo Weaving, Sam Neill, Geoffrey Rush, and Abbie Cornish. Surprisingly this movie looks a lot better than I thought it would. Could Zack Snyder be on the road to redemption after the mixed reviews he got for Watchmen?

Check out the first teaser trailer for Legend of the Guardians…

Legend of the Guardians debuts in theaters on September 24, 2010 in traditional 3D and IMAX 3D theaters.

What do you think of the graphics in the film? Do you think Snyder has a hit on his hands? Will you go see the movie?
