Texas native Robert Rodriguez will debut footage from his new film at this year’s SXSW Festival, which happens to be the highly anticipated Predators reboot. He’s been a mainstay at the festival for years and during his latest visit he’ll bring the first look at his version of those orally challenged aliens from above.
Before you get too excited about the movie, Rodriguez and Predators director Nimrod Antal won’t be showing the completed film. They’ll reveal exclusive scenes and then hold a Q&A session afterwards to get some input from the viewing audience. The news regarding the debut was announced on the SXSW website where the exclusive premiere of Géla Babluani’s English language remake of 13 Tzameti, now entitled 13 was also revealed.
The special presentation of Predators will take place at the Alamo Ritz Theater in downtown Austin, at 10:15pm. Doors open at 9:45pm, and the special event is only open to SXSW Badge-holders on a first-come, first-served basis. An audience Q&A follows the unveiling.
As for 13, it will debut on Saturday at Midnight as the previously Super Secret screening listed on the schedule. The film stars Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, 50 Cent, Sam Riley, Ray Winstone, and Alexander Skarsgard. The story centers on Vince, a man who unwittingly becomes involved in a degenerate, clandestine world of mental chaos behind closed doors. The screening will take place at Midnight on Saturday, March 13 at the Alamo South Lamar Theater.
