Just yesterday we reported on what we suspect as the completion of the first draft of Marvel’s Avengers script. Marvel exec Joe Quesada tweeted that he was printing a copy and excited to crack open the pages. If The Avengers movie is that far ahead, then Captain America should be nearing production right? We’ve discovered some new info regarding the film’s plot and the shoot which could begin as early as this summer.

Thanks to an announcement over at the Featurefilmcasting website, we’ve picked up some serious information regarding the story for The First Avenger: Captain America. It gives a breakdown of the character and the setting for the film, which doesn’t really give away too many spoilers if you’ve read the comics.

If you’re interested in the info divulged from the site, here it is below…

Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected.

Overhearing the boy’s earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment… Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Solider Serum and bombarded by ‘vita-rays.’

Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program.

Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and as leader of the Avengers.

This gives us some decent background on Cap, but it’s nothing mind blowing. What about the villains and the supporting characters that will aid him as he makes his way up the Avengers ladder? Another good note to take from this is the mention of a possible production start date, which was listed as June 28, 2010. A summer shoot doesn’t sound far fetched considering the film will be released on July 22, 2011. If they factor in post production, June sounds like a prime time to get this ball on the roll.

What do you think about the Captain America synopsis? Do you think they will tackle his complete origin story?
