Picture 21 New Prince of Persia Theatrical Trailer

Another new trailer has been released for Disney’s adaptation, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The film is based on the popular video game of the same name and stars Jake Gyllenhaal as the title character. The only downside to this video is the return of Gemma Arterton’s annoying voice over. It constantly haunts us in the other previews and it does the same here. Other than that the latest trailer is worth a viewing…

There’s some new footage shown in this trailer as well as more backstory regarding the protagonist, Dastan. For those who have never played the game, it explains that he isn’t a prince by noble blood. He used to live on the streets and was apparently “chosen by the gods” for a greater destiny. This is a fact that Arterton’s narration made sure to point out.

The film centers on Prince Dastan, who reluctantly joins forces with the mysterious Tiana (Arterton) to race against dark forces and safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time—a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world. The film is directed by Mike Newell, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. It will debut in theaters on May 28, 2010.

Here’s the latest trailer…
