Disney’s Tangled Teaser Trailer
By Krystal Clark
Update: The full teaser trailer for Tangled in now available.
An early teaser trailer has been released for Disney’s upcoming animated film, Tangled. It’s the movie formerly known as Rapunzel and stars Mandy Moore as the blond haired girl trapped in an ivory tower. The teaser for the film is literally 30 seconds and features more voice over than actual footage, but at least that’s something. Check it out…
Tangled centers on the cursed Rapunzel, famous for her 70 feet of golden hair, after she’s been stolen from her parents’ castle as an infant and imprisoned. Now a teenager, she escapes and goes on the run with a bandit named Flynn Ryder who’s voiced by “Chuck’s” Zachary Levi, and they work together to free her from captivity.
The teaser features various voice overs by Moore and Levi, and it sort of reminds me of the teaser for The Dark Knight a couple of years ago. The really early cut that featured the Batman symbol with Christian Bale and Michael Caine’s narration. Either way it’s short, sweet and to the point.

This trailer, though short and super-reserved when it comes to plot details, looks GORGEOUS. I know the team of artists have been trying for years to achieve this certain painterly look. It looks like they nailed it!

The trailer looks impressive, and neat. It looks so magical, it feels like that I am in the story. I got my fingers crossed for that Disney movie.

Okay, not much, but the art DOES look great.
Now, for the criticism…
What. The HELL. is wrong with these people?
Changing the name of a well-known, beloved classic from it's given title 'Rapunzel' to 'Tangled'??? PLEASE.
And to top it off… they've SHELVED 'The Snow Queen'.

Oh, for heaven's sake. Just call it "Rapunzel" and have done with it–you're not fooling anyone, just making yourselves look foolish. It seems like you've got something marvelous going here–stop jittering about box office and do right by this film the way you did by "Princess and the Frog", Disney.

(1) The main character is a guy &/or there are enough solid guy characters, i.e. Aladdin movies & HoN
(2) Even though the movie is named after a girl, has anything feminine in the title, &/or has a female lead, she is not overly princessy, the story is not overly girly, a bit more action-packed, &/or maybe at times even a bit dark/twisted/depressingly tragic (i.e. Poccahantas, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast).
Granted, my brother actually wants to see "The Princess and the Frog", but again, there are several elements that the film has that make the title of little to no concern. For this new movie, Disney, in addition to the title, is supposed to put alot of emphasis on the male lead, & not make it too girly.
That's my dollar & change, since I've written way too much for it to just be my 2 cents, lol.

The reason they named it "Tangled" is because they want to draw in more male viewers. Disney thinks that the reason they didn't gross as much as they'd hoped for "The Princess and the Frog" is because there was too much "Princess" emphasis, thus alianating potential male fans. While I'm a traditionalist, I believe Disney is making a halfway right move.
My brother (who couldn't possibly be more macho) likes Disney movies, but won't touch most of the ones that mention anything girly/princessy in the title (i.e. Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Alice In Wonderland, The Little Mermaid, Enchanted). The only reson he likes some, like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Poccahantas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, & Mulan is because, though they have prominent female characters, one of 2 things is happening:
