Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto has landed a new gig, and it will involve her interacting with the gods. According to Variety, the actress’ latest film will tackle subject matter that we’re all too familiar with, Greek Mythology. Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief just hit theaters, in a month or so we’ll be able to check out Clash of the Titans, and Pinto will be a part of the upcoming, War of the Gods.
When I first heard of the title, my mind went to War of the Worlds blended with Clash of the Titans. The film follows “a young warrior Theseus who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat evil and the powerful elder gods of the Titans in order to save mankind.” Pinto will star as Phaedra, an oracle priestess who will aid Theseus on his quest. The young warrior will be played by “The Tudors” Henry Cavill, who I’m excited to see star in a feature of this stature.
War of the Gods will be directed by Tarsem Singh and produced by Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton, who worked on 300. Jason Keller wrote the most recent draft of the script, which was originally written by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides. As a sucker for Greek Mythology and Cavill, I will be all over this movie as details emerge.
What do you think of Pinto and Cavill leading the cast of War of the Gods?
