Kevin James just doesn’t do it for me in the comedy department, but for some odd reason he keeps landing high profile roles. In his latest coup, he’s managed to get a spot in an untitled Ron Howard directed film co-starring Vince Vaughn. That’s a lot of talent and experience for one movie and James has just signed on to get his piece of the comedic pie.

According to the trade, the untitled film has a screenplay written by Allan Loeb, who’s previously scripted several dramas including 2007′s Things We Lost in the Fire, 2008′s 21, and the upcoming sequel Wall Street Money Never Sleeps. Howard will direct the script that will center on a man (Vaughn) who learns that his best friend’s wife is cheating and must then navigate treacherous waters to decide what do with that knowledge. James is playing the best friend and cheating victim in question.

The movie will be produced by Howard’s partner Brian Grazer as well as Vaughn’s banner, Wild West Picture Show. This is another notch on James’ belt considering the unexpected success of his film Paul Blart Mall Cop, and his role in the upcoming ensemble comedy Grown Ups. How does this man continue to get work? I just don’t get it.

What do you think about James starring alongside Vince Vaughn in a comedy?
