Johnny Depp On Dark Shadows, Angelina Jolie in The Tourist

Yesterday while at the Alice in Wonderland press conference, Johnny Depp opened up and gave a few updates on two of his developing films. One of them was The Tourist with Angelina Jolie and the other was the big screen adaptation of Dark Shadows with director Tim Burton. With so many projects on his plate, which will he do first?
There were a lot of journalists at the junket trying to get Depp’s attention so thanks to Steve Weintraub and Heather Newgen for getting in the Dark Shadows and Tourist questions. First off, Depp was asked during the conference about the filming process for The Tourist. According to the film’s IMDB page, it’s currently shooting, but the actor said that’s not the case. He stated, “I haven’t done anything yet.” And when asked about the official production start date he said, “I think Tuesday.”
What would make an actor of Depp’s stature want to take on this international thriller?
I liked the French film. I liked it a lot. My friend played the part in that and I liked it. So yeah, it might be interesting to explore this kind of character, but you never know what’s going to happen.
And when it comes to working with future co-star Angelina Jolie he stated,
I suspect there may be a few paparazzis in Venice.
Another major update the actor gave had to do with the big screen adaptation of the popular Gothic soap opera, Dark Shadows. It’s said to be Tim Burton’s next project, but Depp seems to have a lot going on at the moment. With The Tourist starting up this week, and Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides sometime later this year, where will he be able to fit it in?
I see it going this year, I hope it does. I do yeah. We’ll work like dogs to get there.
That’s three major movies set to go into production in one year, which means Mr. Depp will be spreading himself thin. If each shoot only takes a few months to finish he might be able to pull it off, but only time will tell.

Dark Shadows is a classic. I'm happy that Burton's on board. I don't care how long Depp's been a fan, no one can play Barnabas Collins the way Jonathan Frid can. I would love for this show to be introduced to younger audiences, but I don't think Depp can pull it off. I'm happy that Burton's on board.

The Tourist because I've always wanted to see a movie that star's my top two favorite actors Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp the best actors in the business so The Tourist is diffently on my to see list

Dark Shadow is a classic. I loved it as a child. As far as Johnny Depp playing Barnbaras, I think he will do a great job. I hope they don’t put a bunch of make up on JD to make him look ugly. He his so handsome, just put the make up on him to enhance his good looks. Example Captain Jack without the dreads.
Tourist sounds exciting I hope it’s good.
Pirates 4 Captain Jack. He’s one of my favorite characters. Can’t wait for this one either.

I am a longtime fan of Dark Shadows since I was a child of 10 (I'm 49 now). I ran home from the school bus to see Barnabas Collins every weekday. I think Depp is a big DS fan too,so how could he be anything but great as Barnabas?! I love all his "dark" roles of his career,and Tim Burton is a very creative, and talented Artist/Director. I just hope they go with a seriously scary tone,and don't get too whimsical with DS. I also hope they cast a suitable Angelique,and Josette character. And please,let's see some fangs! I can't wait for this one.

As 1 of the biggest Dark Shadows fans around, I couldn't contain myself when I heard there was FINALLY going to to be a movie made of "Dark Shadows"…then to be told that Johnny Depp was playing Barnabas Collins…I emailed and FaceBooked everyone I know to spread the word…What perfect casting! My friends and I have already started making a list of the other characters and actors we think should be added to production…I can't wait to hear who they have in mind for Angelique! Could this be the beginning of a new Depp franchise… after all Dark Shadows was a soap opera with several time lines and story plots… I'm checking Dark Shadows fan site everyday for updates! OMG! I have to throw a Dark Shadow party opening night!
