The cast for Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming film Contagion continues to grow. The last addition to the high profile film was Oscar nominee Gwyneth Paltrow, and now according to The Playlist she’ll be joined by current “CSI” star Laurence Fishburne. The site also revealed some new plot details that have been kept under wraps until now.
Along with Paltrow, Fishburne will join the likes of Jude Law, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, and Marion Cotillard. His part is described as a “major role” but his involvement with the film is heavily based on his current schedule. The Oscar nominated actor is a television regular, and the movie could conflict with his current commitments.
Contagion’s story will center on the “outbreak of a deadly virus,” and have the majority of the cast members playing doctors and scientists. The latest plot details reveal that an international team of medical professionals will be brought in by the “CDC (Centers for Disease Control) once the sickness outbreak starts.” The story will also take place on four continents, which will have the characters jet setting across the globe to help contain the disease.
Just yesterday Warner Bros picked up the 60 million dollar film that was shopped shortly before landing with the studio. This film sounds like a worthy investment, and hopefully Fishburne will be able to fit it into his schedule. He’s such a talented actor and he can definitely hang with the names that are already attached. We miss seeing him on the big screen.
What do you think of the growing cast of Contagion? Do you you think Laurence Fishburne should accept the offer to join the cast?
