Steven Soderbergh has an knack for working with Academy Award winning and nominated actors. One of his many developing films, Contagion already features Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard and Matt Damon. The director must be in the mood to reunite the cast of The Talented Mr. Ripley because Gwyneth Paltrow has just signed on to star in the film.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Paltrow is the latest addition to Contagion, a drama that’s said to carry a 60 million dollar budget. The script for the film was written by Scott Z. Burns and centers on the “outbreak of a deadly virus.” How many talented people can one film take? Contagion sounds like it has a recipe for success with an award winning director and cast to its credit.
But remember when we all got excited about the cast of Nine? Remember when we thought it would be the hottest thing since sliced bread, but it bombed monumentally? Hopefully that doesn’t happen here, because Steven Soderbergh and Rob Marshall are two totally different directors. Soderbergh’s known for making “smart” films. The plot details and casting notes for Contagion are still falling into place, but we’ll let you know more as the story develops.
What do you think about Paltrow joining the cast of Contagion? Will it be great to see her with Damon and Law again?
