The marketing for the upcoming animated feature Despicable Me leaves much to be desired. The film’s premise seems funny enough and it has a talented cast, but the trailers are seriously lacking. Over at Times Online, they’ve just posted the official international teaser trailer and it’s left me more confused than ever about this movie. Take a look…

From what we’ve gathered, Despicable Me centers on a villain named Gru, who plans on taking over the world. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he runs into a trio of orphan girls who mistakenly take him as their potential father figure. How will he balance his devious plans with fatherhood?

In this latest trailer, it features Gru and his minions walking the walk as they prepare to do something evil. I’m not sure what his followers are, but they’re definitely not human. They’re yellow and they wear goggles and overalls. Much like the first teaser trailer this one falls flat causing my expectations for this film to sink even lower.

Despicable Me is a Universal release and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2010 and it will be released in 3-D.
