The Last Airbender Theatrical Trailer
By Krystal Clark
After the amazing Super Bowl spot we got for The Last Airbender, I’m not surprised that a theatrical trailer has just been released. Over at Yahoo, they’ve debuted a new trailer for the M. Night Shyamalan live action adaptation, and it looks amazing. The TV spot was just a warm up for what looks like a great film.
The Last Airbender centers on Aang, the young successor to a line of Avatars who have the ability to control the four elements (earth, fire, water, air). In the past there was peace between the four nations that represented each element, but it changed when the Avatar disappeared and the Fire Nation attacked, forcing a war on the other three nations. Now it’s up to 12 year old Aang to defeat their army and bring balance and peace back to all four nations.
The cast of the film includes Noah Ringer, Jackson Rathbone, and Dev Patel. In the trailer we get to see more of the other characters like Katara and Sokka as well as Aang in action. The actors used for some of these characters still bother me, but overall the film looks a lot better than I thought it would.
The Last Airbender hits theaters on July 2, 2010.
What do you think of the theatrical trailer for The Last Airbender? Do you think the movie will be a hit or miss?

This is amazing. I have been following the making of the movie since it was first announced that M. Night would be dong it. I was hoping that it would not end up being The Happening

I love the "Avatar" cartoon series more than any man in his 40's has a right to. Its mythology, characters, design, and blend of fun and action won me over the first time I sat down to watch it with my kids.
At his best, M. Night Shyamalan can blend suspense and humanity as well as any director working today. Yes, you could drive a truck through the holes in logic in some of his movies, yet I've still enjoyed them all (note: I ain't seen "The Happening" or "Lady in Water").
I'm crossing my fingers that a talented director will do justice to the excellent source material. Come on, Night. I really want to like "Airbender." Don't let me down.
