It’s ironic that such a story would pop up regarding Evangeline Lilly right after last night’s Kate-centric episode of “Lost.” The actress has made some headlines regarding her plans for the future after the series ends. Her co-star Daniel Dae Kim has already landed a gig on another show, while Matthew Fox is looking to make more films, but it sounds like Lilly wants out.

In a recent interview, Lilly stated that she wanted to “drop off the radar” once the show ends in May. Now, most people would jump at the opportunity to capitalize on more Hollywood gigs, but not this actress. She admits that she’s not as passionate about acting as she should be, and the past six years working on the island have been sort of a prison.

How can Hawaii be considered a prison you ask? According to her “It’s not like working in Los Angeles where you can go out to Las Vegas for the weekend and take off and get away. When we’re on the island, we’re on the island. You’re stuck and you can’t go anywhere.” As for her decision to step away from acting here’s what she had so say,

“Acting is something I appreciate, and I think it’s been an amazing experience, but I’m not passionate about acting the way you probably should be to call yourself an actor. I want to have some quiet space… and enjoy a little bit of normalcy again before deciding what’s next.”

Her outlook on her career doesn’t surprise me one bit, she’s beautiful and talented, yet during her time on “Lost” she’s barely done any other projects (The Hurt Locker) while the show was on hiatus. Matthew Fox on the other hand has made several. She’s got a few months to make up her mind, but at the moment it seems like her future as an actress is on shaky ground.

Do you think Lilly is right and should throw in the towel? Do you want to see her in more film roles?
