There’s no such thing as too much Johnny Depp, so we welcome this latest piece of promotion from his upcoming film, Alice in Wonderland. Every Wednesday until the week of its release, Disney will debut new behind the scenes footage and interviews from the Tim Burton adaptation. The latest video is an extended featurette that centers on Depp’s character the Mad Hatter, and be warned it shows new footage from the film that some of you might consider spoiler territory.

Alice in Wonderland will hit theaters next month on March 5th, and stars Australian actress Mia Wasikowska in the title role. The film is based on a combination of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and the unofficial sequel, Through the Looking Glass. The story centers on a 19-year-old Alice, who makes a dramatic return to the fantasy land she visited as a child. She’s the only hope the inhabitants have against the rising threat of the evil Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter).

In the Mad Hatter featurette, Johnny Depp explains the madness behind the Hatter, and opens up about his relationship with Alice. Both characters are very protective of one another and share a brother-sister bond that he and Wasikowska try to portray in the film. He also discusses his character’s emotional changes, which he displays very openly for others to see. He describes him as a “mood ring” because he plays his emotions very close to the surface.

I thought The Mad Hatter and Alice having a small romance to them…. anybody else? It felt like it was hinted. I can't see it as a brother-sister thing because Movies that have exciting colours and backgrounds always seem to have some sort of romance to it…..What I wished was for Alice to stay. It would have been dramatic. I don't think I have ever seen a movie where the person stays in the "Other place"
