Hollywood Super Bowl Ads
By Krystal Clark
Last night during the Super Bowl there were just as many people tuning in for the commercials as there were for the game. There weren’t a lot of film related TV spots this year, and the few that we got were hit or miss. There were promos for Alice in Wonderland, The Last Airbender, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Shutter Island and Robin Hood. And in case you’re one of the few who missed it, we’ve got them all right here…
The first TV spot shown was for The Last Airbender during the Super Bowl Kick-Off show, right after the singing of the National Anthem. It was one of the few cases where the TV spot was actually better than the trailer. It was our first time seeing some real action footage from the film and it was great.
The trailer for Robin Hood was also a pleasant surprise. The narration at the beginning was a bid stagnant, but other than that it was good to go. Alice in Wonderland was my favorite spot of the night. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, The March Hare stole the show. You’ll see what the big deal is with him after you watch the trailer.
The biggest disappointment comes from Prince of Persia. The TV spot offered nothing new and was just a shortened version of its international trailer. It was a major let down.
Here are all the TV spots below…
Shutter Island hits theaters on February19, 2010
Alice in Wonderland hits theaters on March 5, 2010.
Robin Hood hits theaters on May 14, 2010
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time hits theaters on May 28, 2010.
The Last Airbender hits theaters on July 2, 2010.
