Logan Lerman will take on an epic role in this month’s upcoming release, Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and he already has his eyes on another iconic character. According to an interview the actor gave Access Hollywood, he’s one of the candidates up for the role of Peter Parker in the rebooted Spider-Man series.

Lerman spoke on the phone with “Access Hollywood’s” Billy Bush, and the host asked him whether or not there was talk of him starring as Parker in Sony’s Spider-Man reboot. The 18 year old actor is in the right age bracket, and he’s not a well known face, which would feed into the studio’s desire of having a newbie. When pressed about the matter here’s what Lerman had to say…

“There have been a few discussions, it’s definitely something I’m looking into. It’s one of my favorite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series,” he continued. I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it. It’s a long process with the studio and the producers and everything. But it’s definitely a project that I’m really interested in, of course. I’d love to focus on the human element a little bit more. It’d be such a fun experience.”

Bush also asked him if he reached out to the studio first or was it vice versa, and Lerman stated that the producers contacted him for the role, which means they are interested. If Lerman was cast as Parker it wouldn’t bother me as much because he’s been acting for a while, he just hasn’t saturated the market like Shia Labeouf or Zac Efron.

He has the acting chops, and as long as the writer’s find a way to bring back Peter’s witty sarcasm (that was missing from the original trilogy) we’ve got a deal. I don’t think there’s any doubt that he could play up the boyish charm of Parker, the question is does he have the physical prowess to work that Spider-Man suit?

Do you think Lerman would make a good Peter Parker?
