Jon Stewart recently made an appearance on the Fox News Channel series, “The O’Reilly Factor” and went toe to toe with its controversial host, Bill O’Reilly. This was Stewart’s second appearance on the show and he covered every topic under the sun, including the lopsided coverage of President Obama that Fox News is known for.

We’re not at Comedy Central anymore Jon Stewart, so in the words of Stanley Tucci in The Devil Wears Prada, “gird your loins.” When Stewart sat down in the hot seat with O’Reilly, audiences at home thought World War 3 would erupt, but he held his own in a verbal battle with one of the most feared men on television.

This was not a knock down, drag out fight, so if that’s what you were looking for it didn’t happen. Stewart did throw out some of his usual snarky comments, but they were a lot more subtle than what we’re used to seeing. When addressing the criticism of our nation’s president, Stewart chose his words carefully while defending his views on Fox’s coverage.

“Here’s what Fox has done, through their cyclonic perpetual emotional machine that is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: They have taken reasonable concerns about this president and this economy and turned it into full-fledged panic attack about the next coming of Chairman Mao.”
