Following in the footsteps of Cemetery Junction’s teaser trailer, is the film’s official poster that features all the main characters. Oddly enough, star, writer and director Ricky Gervais isn’t the center of attention, but the four young actors are. Junction is another Gervais-Stephen Merchant production that includes a lot more drama than what we’re used to seeing from the duo.

Cemetery Junction is period piece that takes place in a provincial English town in the 1970’s. The main character Freddie, (Christian Cooke) is anxious to break free from his working class roots, but has to maneuver around the opposition of his best friends Bruce and Snork, played by Tom Hughes and Jack Doolan. All three are featured on the poster as well the young actress Felicity Jones, and Gervais.

Gervais and Merchant are moving in a new direction with the script for this film because it’s nowhere near as comedic as their other projects. Whenever I think of these two, “Extras” and BBC’s “The Office” always come to mind. If you’re a fan of their type of comedy I’m sure it will be present in the film, just expect an added dose of drama.

Cemetery Junction will open in the U.K. on April 7th, but we’re still awaiting the release date for the U.S.

On a side note, doesn’t the guy in the very center look like a young Jonathan Rhys-Meyers? And the guy next to him looks like Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy.

What do you think of the poster for Cemetery Junction? Are you surprised that Ricky isn’t in the forefront?
