A new trailer has been released for the upcoming Matthew Vaughn comic adaptation, Kick-Ass and it’s not safe for work. There’s plenty of bad language and violence to make any boss or teacher question your sanity, so watch this video behind closed doors. This trailer follows the red band version that centered on Hit Girl, and the original teaser that introduced us to Kick-Ass, so say hello to the rest of the gang…
Kick-Ass is based on the Mark Millar comic that begs the question, what would happen if superheroes really did exist? The film centers on a group of crime fighting vigilantes who don’t have any super powers, but overcompensate with weapons and attitude. It’s a prime example of fantasy meeting reality, with a bit of comedy thrown in.
The title character is played by British actor Aaron Johnson who is a relative unknown in the States, but that will soon change after Kick-Ass debuts. Chloe Moretz co-stars as Hit Girl perhaps the most popular character in the crew, and her father Big Daddy is played by Oscar winner Nicolas Cage. There’s also Christopher Mintz-Plasse aka McLovin’ who stars as Red Mist, the son of Mark Strong’s villainous character.
The trailer shows a lot more footage, and explains how this group of regular people become part time crime fighters. It constantly stresses that with no powers come no responsibility, and you don’t need a power to he a superhero. From what I’ve seen, all you need is an automatic weapon, and a swift hand that can maneuver some kind of a blade.
