I disagree with most people. we have only scratched the surface of Pandora. why would the plot stray from a planet that we havent even explored. there is so much to see… other species, Eywa, what happens to the Na'vi who were kicked out of hometree? i mean there are just too many things left unanswered. and personally, if they Na'vi left pandora in the machines of the humans, that would totally ruin the nature effect you get from the Na'vi. the next two films must stay on pandora and explore further or else its just a waste of a plot in the first movie.

I was thinking mayby have tri enemy. Like, have three different races, mayby human, Na'vi and something else, and mayby have the humans team up with the na'vi. Rumor has it that avatar 2 will not be on Pandora what so ever. However, I was reading some comments and the question is, do you make more avatars cause we all want more, or do you not possibly overkill the movie, by making one big movie: AVATAR!

from whta ive read, the trilogy will feature around jake and neytiri, but unlike movies like lord of the rings it wont be a continuous plot line; they'll be full movies within themselves featuring characters we already know. I love this film and i would love to see more of the characters, but im a tad concerned the Avatar will be killed, especially, as it is rumoured, to be taken off pandora. But if anyone can make a sequal or trilogy without killing, but only improving it, its James Cameron

I don't believe he will make an continuation type of trilogy. I would like to see him delve deeper with exploring new worlds, new characters, new story lines, but in the same universe… making this IP like starwars. Ultimately, everything is tied together in a grand storyline.

Maybe somewhat like halo, starcraft, avp etc when a 3rd race is involved.

Rumor is Avatar 2 is already completed and 3 has been in the works for quite some time. I'm guessing they will release Avatar on bluray (3d) around the same time the sequel is released to hype it up…obvioulsy 2d will be released much sooner, but if they can get away with double dipping, they will, and oh boy will they ever.

I feel that avatar has th ability to be the new star wars like franchise. It's just on a different timeline in terms of the na'vi not being technically advanced. And remember there are still human aircraft left on the planet when the humans are kicked off. Could be an industrial revolution for jakesully and his clan!
