Just the other day, a couple of character banners were released for the upcoming film, The Last Airbender, and instead of wowing us with a new design, the international poster is nothing but a combination of the two. The poster literally shows us what happens when you put the images back to back…

The individual posters feature the film’s protagonist and antagonist Aang and Zuko, who are polar opposites of each other. The international one sheet takes complete advantage of that and blows it out of proportion. Everything about it contrasts, the red with the blue, Aang’s bald head, Zuko’s spikey hair, and of course the fire and air.

The Last Airbender centers on Aang, the young successor to a line of Avatars who have the ability to control the four elements (earth, fire, water, air). In the past there was peace between the four nations that represented each element, but it changed when the Avatar disappeared and the Fire Nation attacked, forcing a war on the other three nations. Now it’s up to 12 year old Aang to defeat their army and bring balance and peace back to all four nations.

Here’s the poster…

The film also stars Twilight‘s Jackson Rathbone and newbie Nicola Peltz in the M. Night Shyamalan production. The Last Airbender hits theaters on July 2nd.

What do you think of the international poster for The Last Airbender?
