Alice in Wonderland’s Alice (Underground) by Avril Lavigne
By Krystal ClarkA few weeks ago Disney unveiled the tracklist for the Alice in Wonderland soundtrack, which includes every one from All American Rejects to Owl City. The lead single off the album is entitled, “Alice (Underground)” and it’s sung by a young woman who used to be known for her obscure behavior, Avril Lavigne. The track has leaked online and we’ve got your first chance to listen to it here…
After the initial tracklisting for the film was revealed a lot of people were shocked at who appeared on the album. Avril Lavigne didn’t blow me away, but the partnering of Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy and Mark Hoppus from Blink 182 was just odd. Oh yeah, and Wolfmother gets in on the action as well with their song, “Fell Down the Hole.” If you want to check out who else makes an appearance, you can view the complete album list and the songs below.
- “Alice (Underground)” performed by Avril Lavigne
- “The Poison” performed by The All-American Rejects
- “The Technicolor Phase” performed by Owl City
- “Her Name Is Alice” performed by Shinedown
- “Painting Flowers” performed by All Time Low
- “Where’s My Angel” performed by Metro Station
- “Strange” performed by Tokio Hotel and Kerli
- “Follow Me Down” performed by 3OH!3 featuring Neon Hitch
- “Very Good Advice” performed by Robert Smith
- “In Transit” performed by Mark Hoppus with Pete Wentz

What do you think of the first track off the Alice in Wonderland Soundtrack? Is it what you expected it to be or is it a let down?

it's a totally not go! I want to ask Tim Burton seriously why he added such a shrieky song to a great movie??? hopefully there's a better version on the movie

I'm loving this song! Good job Avril – I love the rawness of her voice in the song – it's so powerful!

I like the sound, it's something different from Avril. I like her voice too. But as a song, it doesn't really play to her biggest strength as a songwriter, which is narrative. This song isn't really about much of anything. It's emo cliches strung together. It's a good mood setter for the movie though.

I liked Avril song very much it fits the movie, and so did Tim Burton, he chose Avril's song as the #1 song and the only song from the album to be in the movie during the credits .

Exactly J_Brisby. I am actually really loving this song now…
It grows on you tbh. The screeching is noticeable at first, but after a few listens you get to like it.
