Jason Momoa is Conan the Barbarian

Holy crap! There has been movement on the Conan the Barbarian front, and the title role has finally been cast. According to multiple sources including DeadlineHollywood and Latino Review, 30 year old Jason Momoa has been hired to star as the hero in the Marcus Nispel revival of the popular franchise. Who is Jason Momoa you ask? I’ll fill you in…

Ok, Jason’s name may not ring a bell just yet but the guy has been around for a while. My first exposure was seeing him on the spin-off series “Baywatch Hawaii” where he played a character named, well Jason. At the time he was a fresh faced 20 year old with a frat boy hair cut. Then he made a few appearances on some other franchise favorites such as “Stargate Atlantis” and he even did a stint on the short lived Fox drama, “North Shore” opposite another “Baywatch” alum, Brooke Burns.

Momoa was born in Hawaii but raised on the mainland, and he’s no stranger to the vanity of the business, he used to be a model. With that type of background no wonder he’s been cast as the half naked all the time Conan, right? If that’s not crazy enough we’re also hearing that an offer has gone out from Lionsgate to Mickey Rourke to play Conan’s dad, Corin. Whoa!
