The legendary James Cameron wins Best Picture for his box office phenomenon Avatar, which allegedly took three decades to fully develop. The picture made 73 million dollars opening weekend, and has remained number one at the US box office since its December release!

Check out Cameron’s competition below..

Fan or not, Avatar was undoubtedly the obvious candidate for Best Picture. Not only does James Cameron SCREAM success, but this motion picture dipped into cinematic dimensions that hadn’t yet been totally explored. Cameron’s vision was revolutionary, there’s no doubt. Bravo. However, it’s safe to argue that the Best Picture award generally goes to the universally appealing film . The Hurt Locker and Inglorious Basterds had story-lines of equal innovation, but one was a commentary on the Iraq War and the other mocked the Nazi’s. Oh, no! Controversy! Run!
