Tekken: The Movie Gets a Trailer
By Krystal Clark
If you grew up in the nineties, fighting video games were all the rage. We had Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, and of course Tekken. There have been several animated film versions of the Tekken game, but the first live action adaptation is on its way. If you’re a fan of Jin, Nina, and Heihachi here’s your chance to finally see them live and in living color.
Tekken is directed by Dwight H. Little, and is based on the popular Namco fighting game. The setting is in the near future, which shows a world destroyed by war. Legitimate forms of government have been replaced by greedy corporations, with the mightiest being Tekken. To keep the restless civilians in order, the company sponsors a martial arts tournament called The Iron Fist where contenders fight to the death for ultimate glory, stardom, and wealth.
As a fan of the game and the animated movie, I’ve secretly always wanted to see a live action film, but this trailer is kind of a turn off. The casting isn’t that great, and the overall look of the film seems very low budget. Of course acting isn’t something you need to have for a movie of this caliber, but several of these actors are horrible. At one point someone actually yelled, “This is Iron Fist,” and it sounded like they were going to follow it up with, “Welcome to the O.C., bitch!”
Here’s the trailer…
What do you think about the first trailer for Tekken: The Movie?

It looks like a cheesy 90's movie, but they do have a lot of good fighters and martial artists in it. Hopfully it doesn't completely go off the story line. And Jin Can't speak english :'[ so that much of it is already ruined. lol Plus he doesn't even look bad ass enough to play Jin. lol but on a better note. Christie should totally have a sex scene with Kuma! ahhaha

I agree on the language part – I don't want to see it in English! And yeah, that doesn't look like Jin, plus it looks like he's gonna see some romance! Nooo not Jin, he's too twisted for that! But on the plus side, Raven looked exactly like he's supposed to, and I've seen the guy playin Eddy before (I think, in Apocalypto maybe) and I think he actually does know capoeira!
I really want to see a lot of the Mishima family story, including Lee Chaolan (one of my fave characters) – isnt he meant to be like an adopted son or somethin? I have lost track of the game story a bit… been playin 6 lately!

Jon Foo – Wushu master
Cary Tagawa – Needs no introduction. Expert of a martial art, and creator of Chun-Shin
Lateef Crowder – Unbelievable Capoeirista, wait and see..
Anton Kasabov – Remarkable Taekwondo talent and master
Gary Daniels – Kickboxing champion
Darrin Henson – 15 years or martials arts under belt, also dance coreographist
Nathan Jones – live Craig Marduk
Ian Anthony Dale – Watch this guy out, he’ll make Kazuya look like a puss
Cyrill Raffaelli – The coreographist.. watch his parkour videos
The reason Ian / Kazuya has beard is to make him look old enough in comparison to Jon to be his father. Jon is 26, Ian is 29. Tho Jon looks younger than his age and Ian looks older than his age. It isn't enough. In the game they have some 25 years difference in age.
The only bad casts are the one playing Rojo, because he doesn't look like him. And the girls, especially Nina is a bad cast and looks like from the moves she doesn't know martial arts.
