The Andrew Stanton adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ series John Carter of Mars is officially in production. We’ve been hearing about the film for almost a year and the big day has finally arrived. Not only has filming commenced but more cast members have also been revealed.
According to a recent press release, the Disney production of John Carter started filming overseas in London, England. The movie’s plot centers on a civil war veteran who finds himself mysteriously transported to Mars, where his involvement with warring races of the dying planet force him to rediscover his humanity. The title character is played by former “Friday Night Lights” star Taylor Kitsh, and co-stars Wolverine alum Lynn Collins.
Just yesterday we told you about the addition of Bryan Cranston to the cast, and now we’ve got a few more names to bring to the party. Ciaran Hinds who’s best known for his role as Julius Caesar on the HBO series, “Rome” and Daryl Sabara who recently appeared in the dark comedy, World’s Greatest Dad. The duo will join the likes of Willem Dafoe, James Purefoy, Polly Walker, and Samantha Morton in the film that’s described as a live action/animated feature.
This movie will feature a huge reunion for Hinds and Walker because they both appeared on “Rome” together, as did Purefoy. The gangs all here! The only thing we need is for Kevin McKidd to get off “Grey’s Anatomy” so he can join the rest of the crew. According to Stanton, he’s been waiting his whole life to see the characters and worlds of John Carter of Mars realized on the big screen, we’re sure that’s a sentiment a lot of fans share.
What do you think of the full cast of John Carter of Mars? What do you think about Disney using London as their location?
