Weekend Box Office: Avatar Continues to Reign

Well this is just getting boring now. Avatar has reigned #1 at the box office for four weeks now, can anyone stop it? Probably not with small budget vampire films like Daybreakers and indie comedies like Youth in Revolt hitting theaters. While everyone else seems to be releasing their small indies with little to no money for distribution, James Cameron‘s pockets keep growing fatter. Maybe Denzel Washington and Book of Eli is enough to break its reign? We’ll have to wait and see what happens next week…

Overall, there’s not too much to discuss this week. Both Daybreakers and Youth in Revolt were able to have solid opening weekends and nearly make back their money in one fell swoop.

Sadly, Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was given a wider opening but no one seemed to know about it. For the life of me I can’t understand how Heath Ledger’s final film with a supporting cast of Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell can’t get asses in the seats. It’s out there people! What are you afraid of?

As for next week… Do you think that Avatar will continue to keep it’s number one spot? Or will it get knocked down by Book of Eli or dare I say, When in Rome?
